AutoCAD & ADT Tips

I'm adding an "CADD Tips" section to the blog. I will be posting various how-to articles for AutoCAD in general, and more specifically Architectural Desktop.

Since I am a member of the Autodesk User Group International, or AUGI, I have had the opportunity to answer various questions posted to forums. I try to keep my posts succinct, so it doesn't always allow for elaboration on a technique. But by using this blog, I will be allowed to make more detailed explanations, as well as including screen shots. I also want to have links to example drawings that anyone can download and play with.

If you have anything you'd like to know about, I'd be happy to produce a post on the subject (assuming of course it's not beyond my experience). Just post a comment here, or send an email to tips(at)aspaceintime.com.

ADDENDUM: Tips will now be posted on the Back to the Drafting Board site, under Tips & How-To.

Updated Pages

More updates to site:

  • Added a "Services" page.
  • Added a new links page for food service equipment (by manufacturer name).
  • Some minor edits to the Food Service section main page and the links page.
  • Added some more CTB files to the SUPPORT page.
Contact me or leave comments here is you find any broken links, or would like your company added to the links section.

In addition to the site updates, the blog has some additions as well. Comments and trackback capabilities are back, thanks to HaloScan. Also, FeedBurner now handles the RSS feed, so you can now subcribe with your preferred feed reader. You can even add the feed to your personalized Google home page! (all this is under the "Syndicates" section at right)

ASIT Site Launched!

The A Space In Time web site has been officially launched. There's still a lot to be done and added, but for now, the basic pages of the site have been posted. More will be added over the coming weeks, so check back here often for the latest!

New Blog Theme

In case you didn't notice, the blog has a new look. I've gotten input from some saying the theme was a little dark, specially on LCD monitors, which I agree. So until I can take the time to customize a theme to match the ASIT web site page style, we now have a new theme, as well as a different way of posting.

I'm sorry to say Blogger is no longer servicing this blog. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with Blogger (I'm a big Google fan), it's just (1) I'm a more "hands-on" user and found a very nice program called Thingamablog, and (2) they need to iron-out the "classic" vs. "beta" problems over there.

As always, feel free to leave comments...

Picks & Links

I've posted some more pages and updates to the site; most notably the Gallery and Links sections. There's still a lot more to add, but this will be an ongoing process.

The Gallery has one full project up. (see the "featured" projects in the right side bar) I'll try to have all the "featured" boxes filled before launch. I have to apologize in advance to all the Internet Explorer users out there, as for some strange reason, the Gallery pages don't always render correctly in IE (Thanks, Bill...) Outside of the fact that the background is supposed to stay fixed (not scroll-up with the page) and a few other minor things that don't really detract from the site, sometimes its more blatant, like the footer floating behind the main body. But then, that's why (in my humble opinion) you should be using another browser, like FireFox or Opera. But I digress...

The Links section currently has a main page and a page for CADD related links. I'm still putting together the AEC and Food Service links pages; the FS pages are the longest...I didn't realize just how many sites I've accumulated in my bookmarks (a.k.a. "favorites") over the years! I'm going to have to post those various pages in installments.

Anyway, peruse at will and let me know if there's anything I need to fix, or if there's something you'd like to see... all input is welcome... and encouraged!

Plus, before I forget, I want to give a big Thank You! to Lisa and "my friend" for sniffing-out the typos on the site. Keep up the good work!

Basic Pages Uploaded

I've posted the pages for ASIT in general, like the "About", "Contact" and "Credits" pages (...so now my "hint" in the previous post is no longer entirely true).

The rest of the site may have to wait 'til later (work is picking up again), but taking my friend's advice to heart, I wanted to get these basic pages up for feedback on the layout (and help with the "blurbage.")

Now I have to send out a few invites...

...Round One begins!

Front Page Updated

The new front page is posted (...mainly to test the countdown clock, which is working). Unfortunately, this aslo means I'm commited to getting the site going by Labor Day Weekend!

I worked on the majority of the pages this last weekend, and everything seems to work. Now I have to "flesh-out" the text. Most of it is just place holders, but enough that I could go "live" so that that I could invite those to test it. I be sending out notices soon. A good friend keeps saying, "keep it simple," and I just may have to do that, and leave all the rest of the site for later. We'll see how much I get accomplished...

...back to work.

[hint: there is a hidden link somewhere on the page... you could fish around for it and see your cursor change, but the page it links to isn't complete and none of the links go anywhere, except back here.]
